Lunch Under $10 on Gloucester Street

Ten dollars is not the note it used to be. It still works here, though you have to know where to point it. Every price below comes off the board at the counter.

Three tenders and a small fries — $9.00

$6.50 for the tenders, $2.50 for the fries, and it lands on exactly nine dollars without any rounding in your favour. Probably the most food per dollar in the building, and the order to make when you are hungry rather than browsing.

A 6" chicken sub — $8.49

Buffalo or Chipotle, hot off the grill, lettuce and tomato included. The best straight value on the sub board and still a dollar and a half short of ten. If you want the twelve-inch instead it is $10.99, which is a different conversation.

Five wings — $7.99

Buffalo, B.B.Q., Ranch or Honey Mustard, with two dollars left in your hand. That is almost exactly a small fries at $2.50 — go a couple of cents over and nobody is going to stop you.

A cold sandwich, kept simple — $8.50

Ham or turkey, seafood, roast beef, chicken salad or tuna salad, on white, wheat or rye. Egg salad is $7.99 if you want to go lower still. Add coleslaw or potato salad at $2.99 and you are past ten — worth knowing before you get to the register rather than after.

When you just need something — under $3

  • Turkey hot dog — $1.49
  • Nathan's 100% beef hot dog — $1.99
  • Jamaican beef patty — $2.99

Not lunch, exactly. But enough to stop the afternoon going sideways.

The trap

Moving any cold sandwich onto a 6" sub roll or into a wrap costs $3.00 extra. It is a good upgrade and worth it most days — it is also the quickest way to push a careful order straight past ten without noticing.

The full board is on the menu page. We open at 8:30 am Monday to Friday, so this works for an early lunch as easily as a late one.

Prices are as posted in store and can change. The board at the counter is always the final word.
